About Us
In the fall of 2004, the RHA together with the RM of Piney and Manitoba Health convened four public consultation sessions in the community. The RHA presented a proposal to construct a housing complex adjacent to the housing options, including 12 Personal Care Home (PCH) beds, 8 Supportive Housing/Swing Units (SH), as well as 15 Elderly Persons’ Housing (EPH) apartments. Local residents were very supportive and enthusiastic in their response to the proposal, which required a local entity (ultimately EBCH) to take responsibility for the EPH part of the complex.
East Borderland Community Housing (EBCH), a not-for-profit registered charity, was established in early 2005 by a group of community volunteers. A volunteer board of directors is elected from the community at large. The organizations mission is to fund, build and operate multi-unit Elderly Persons’ Housing for the residents of the RM of Piney and neighboring communities.
